Twenty-five years on, we're bringing everyone to the place we love

◆ Friday 28 – Monday 31 May 2027 ◆ The party: Sunday 30 May

A long time coming

You're invited to Friuli

We married in England in the autumn of 2000, and celebrated in Italy a year later. Since then, life has rather happily got in the way. In 2027 we'd love to gather the people we care about in one place — the corner of north-east Italy we're proud to call ours — and finally do this properly.

Why we're doing this

The shape of it

A weekend, not just an evening

Come for the party, stay for the region. Here's the gist.

Friday

Arrive & settle

Make your way to Udine over the course of Friday. An easy evening to find your feet, share a glass, and shake off the journey.

Saturday

Into the vineyards

A private tour of the wine country Friuli is famous for, arranged by us — among the best white wines in Italy, in the hills near the Slovenian border.

Sunday

The celebration

The main event: an evening at Trattoria Al Torrente, with fresh grilled fish, a live band, and a coach from Udine so no one has to worry about driving.

Monday

Home, or linger

A UK bank holiday Monday means an easy travel day — or a reason to stay on and explore more of Friuli at your own pace.

The place

Why Friuli

Most of our friends have never been. That's rather the point.

Piazza Libertà, Udine — the colourful main square with its Venetian statues and tower View over Udine's rooftops and bell tower with the Julian Alps beyond

Udine is the quiet capital of Friuli — Venetian piazzas, Tiepolo frescoes, alpine air to the north and the Adriatic to the south, and food and wine that locals will tell you (rightly) is among Italy's most underrated.

Save the date

Flights for late May 2027 are already bookable. The earlier you sort travel, the easier — especially for our friends coming from the States.
